About the job
Games Workshop owns some of the most compelling and influential fantasy Intellectual Property in the world including: Warhammer 40,000; Warhammer: Age of Sigmar; Blood Bowl; Talisman; Necromunda; Mordheim and more.
Our licensing department exists to both grow revenue and increase awareness of our IP worldwide through maximising current relationships with licensees and developing new ones across a wide variety of markets. Whilst video, board, card and role-playing games remain key categories for us we are expanding further into new ones: apparel, merchandise and collectibles (to name but a few!) and into new markets – especially Asia Pacific.
So – are you excited by the idea of driving Games Workshop’s licensing revenue and brand awareness to new heights? Do you have the skills and experience to get our IP into products and territories it’s never appeared in before?
Day to day you will be using your consummate communication skills to liaise with key licensees, ensuring they are maximising revenue, whilst also making sure that every opportunity is taken to expose Games Workshop’s IP to a new audience. Tirelessly pursuing all marketing angles with existing licensees will be key. Attending trade shows and using your personal network to assuage your insatiable desire for improving your knowledge of any given market will be only two of the ways in which you will generate new licenses – you will have many more! Working closely with the Licensing Commercial Manager you will enthusiastically follow every lead and new opportunity until the best possible deals for Games Workshop have been signed.
Doing all this will require developing many different relationships globally, both internally and externally, ensuring that all our partnerships are commercially successful for all parties. You will uphold GW’s reputation as a great licensor at all times.
What makes this job hard is the relentless need to talk to anyone about anything at any time, whilst staying cheerfully energetic, and focused on developing great partnerships that result in great products. The ideal candidate will also be excited by the challenge of demonstrating just how much value our IP offers prospective licensees in territories where it is less well known.
Working at Games Workshop
At Games Workshop we are looking for people who will do their best to understand the needs of the company and to put those needs first when they are at work. Because of this we believe that what you are like, hence the attitude you show to work and the way you choose to behave is even more important than your skills or experience.
