About the Job
We have an exciting opportunity for a commercially minded and detail-oriented Finance Manager to lead our finance operations in Japan. This role is ideal for someone who combines strong technical expertise with a practical, process-driven approach and who takes genuine pride in maintaining the integrity and accuracy of financial records.
You will take full ownership of the local finance function, ensuring high standards of compliance and accuracy across accounts payable, accounts receivable, cashbook, ledger accounting, treasury management and payroll oversight. With a steady and structured approach, you will lead the month-end close process, half-year and year-end reporting, and ensure that all statutory, tax and regulatory requirements are met in line with Japanese GAAP. Your attention to detail and commitment to governance will be essential in safeguarding the business and maintaining robust financial controls.

A key aspect of this role will be supporting the Japan business through the transition to new financial systems and processes. You will work closely with the UK and wider international finance teams to ensure a smooth and well-controlled implementation, maintaining operational continuity whilst embedding improved processes and strengthening reporting frameworks. This is an opportunity to play a meaningful role in shaping the future structure and efficiency of our Japan finance function.
In addition to your technical responsibilities, you will lead and develop the local finance team, creating an environment built on clarity, accountability and continuous improvement. You will provide guidance and constructive feedback, ensuring the team consistently delivers accurate and timely outputs.

Other Essential Information
The ideal candidate will hold a bachelor’s degree or recognised accounting qualification and will have demonstrable experience within an international organisation, leading teams in a high-volume accounting environment. Advanced Excel skills and experience supporting ERP system implementation are essential. Knowledge of JapanFX or Microsoft Dynamics 365 would be advantageous.
