About the Job
Games Workshop has an exciting opportunity for a Japanese Translation Manager to join the Black Library Translation team to lead a team of freelance translators to deliver the highest quality translation of publications.
Black Library brings the worlds of Warhammer to life through adrenaline-fuelled fiction. As Translation Manager for Japanese translation, you’ll have a deep love of books and a desire to share our rich settings with readers and fans everywhere. Perceptive and responsive, you’ll understand the tone of Black Library novels and will be a stylistic champion of the Warhammer brand.
Thorough and articulate, you’ll recruit and manage a team of freelancers to deliver Japanese translations of core Black Library books into Japanese. You’ll be a strong communicator in English and Japanese, as we will look to you to act as a central point of contact between the translation team and other departments across Black Library. You’ll be responsible for creating a Black Library glossary, which you’ll actively manage with support from wider translation teams.
Highly collaborative and adaptable, we’ll look to you to build key relationships with internal and external teams, including the Black Library production and art and design teams, to understand requirements, timelines and expectations. Working closely with the Black Library sales manager, you’ll propose and plan marketing campaigns suitable for the Japanese market and ensure plans are delivered on time and to the highest standard.
With an eye for detail, you’ll be responsible for ensuring that the background, style and tone represents the original text. We’ll look to you to create style guides to ensure delivery of a high-quality and consistent tone, ensuring there are no spelling errors and using the correct grammar, all while in an engaging tone whilst respecting the source style and intention.
