About the Job

Do you want to work with authors and develop Black Library’s bestselling and award-winning range of Warhammer 40,000 novels, novellas and short stories?

Are you excited by reading manuscripts and providing productive critical feedback to our authors to make excellent products?

We are looking for an enthusiastic, creative and industrious commissioning editor who can develop strong and productive working relationships with our authors.

As part of a dedicated team of commissioning editors, you will be expected to work with authors to develop ideas and stories set in the Warhammer 40,000 universe, and commission work to fulfil the needs of Black Library’s publishing schedule. You will read manuscripts and deliver timely and appropriate feedback. You will help to maintain and develop an existing stable of authors, and recruit new authors.

The ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate a sound knowledge of narrative craft, excellent written and verbal communication skills, and the ability to meet tight deadlines whilst maintaining the highest standard quality of work.
